Listen up love
I'll tell you a tale
About a guy and a girl
Who were destined to fail.
Destined to fail
Though destined to meet
T'was a strange twist of fate
That arrived at their feet.
Upon scanning the room
He had his heart set
On a girl he could see
And just hadn't met
Standing with friends
She had not a clue
That the smile she set loose
Would start something new.
Approaching her slowly
His mind on his prize
He imagined their future
When he looked in her eyes
Oblivious to love
Her eyes didn't see
The man that he was
Who he tried to be.
A meeting was forced
A bond soon created
They started as friends
Within weeks they had dated
Moving with haste
Their one became two
With being single
They both were through
They each fell in love
They both thought it true
But it was no happy end
It was all rather blue

A Work in Progress
Suddenly
Sunrise shakes us
Hibernation, a dream.
Reality,
A disastrous darkness
Again you go and I
Don't want to love you.
Each morning I try
To break this
Noose you placed around me.
Without you, a minute or two
I'm tormented
Not sure I want to be free
Hold on to me
I can't take it, let go.
Frail, too fragile
In matters of the heart
I'm afraid that I am broken
In pieces you leave me
Daylight shines through
Shards of glass remains
If I had predicted this
I would have stopped it
At least I might have tried
But how do you stop the sun
Or force eternal night?
Midnight hour
Before morning breaks
I feel so happy
Fall freely
You catch me
Then comes the light
You leave
Feeling forgotten
Like you take it with you
To see you through the day
While on the floor I crash
The addict without a drug
Alone in this battle, a war
Heaven versus hell
If everyone could feel it
Would they embrace the day?
Maybe its just me
I don't know how to love
Maybe you can teach me
Will it consume me?
Is it something I can learn?
Will it just get harder?
If I don't try, will I die?
Why don't we start slow
Can't let go, I crave this
Misery
Remind me I'm alive
Melancholy
Tell me I'm not broken
Just unfinished

I'm your ghost
Moving around you,
air so light, floating freely
an apparition is what I am
holding onto your life.
How is it that you can’t see?
I need you to
I refuse to say goodbye
But I know I can’t stay here
Not yet, I can cling a little longer
Before the light pulls me away
Don’t cry, don’t give in.
I reach out my hand to you
so softly, I trace your face
You stare blankly,
drawn deep inside your pain
I know you can’t feel me
But I swear I saw a change
Faint recognition, a question lingering
On your mouth, in your mind
Is it just my own hope I see?
Close my eyes, breathe in and focus
project my thoughts to you
Lean in to you and whisper:
Always my love, forever my heart
Not even death can tear us apart
I raise up my head and see your eyes bright
with that smile on your lips, I walk into the light
air so light, floating freely
an apparition is what I am
holding onto your life.
How is it that you can’t see?
I need you to

It's all violence and Chess
Grumpy but gorgeous
Is what you used to call me,
Look how the tide has turned
You're the one to snap,
Attack without motive
Short, spiky bursts of violence
Venom follows soft,
sweet bubbles of love.
We collide
I want to hide and I'm frozen.
This place where I stand, quicksand
Drowning me slowly, pulls me down
Me, the queen that's unprotected
You, the knight I always dreamed of
So I stay, play the game
Check mate
Defeat,
Tastes a lot like blood these days.
I make the same damn moves
Don't seem to have a mind,
Not one that's mine completely
It’s filled with your excuses,
my wishes for a brand new day.
A day to begin and end the same
No anguish, no pain, no surprises
Without your love that kills me.
It comes around again
This time let's begin with hate
Maybe you should start,
I'll play along
For now, just a pawn.
Remember the rules, keep my focus
Each time round, pick up a little more,
My turn is coming, pretty soon
It'll be over. Only one
Will survive this horror story
Either way,
I'm the winner, I'll be free
Now for one last time
Let's play!

Untouchable
I find myself waiting
Just to hear your voice
Watch you walk in the room
A presence that steals my breath.
Imagine reaching out
Feel you, your skin
Your lips, locked with my own,
full of longing, hunger, desire
My pulse quickens at the thought
You've got my mind racing
No rationality, no reason
My feelings taking over
I try so hard to make a move
Attract your attention
You don't see me
Perhaps you don't care
Emotions exposed out on the table
An open book for all to read
To you, I'm invisible.
God, I'm so stupid sometimes
Baring my desire for all to see
Am I not enough?
What do I have to do? Name it
Anything for you, for your body
Your mind, your soul, I'm putty
For you to mould, sculpt me
Your instrument, your toy,
play me. Please
I need you, I'm spinning,
Control me, take me
I'm yours
How can you be so desirable
So vital to breathing?
When you're unapproachable, obscure
So untouchable
and so obviously uninterested in this girl
Just to hear your voice
Watch you walk in the room
A presence that steals my breath.
Imagine reaching out
Feel you, your skin

Wait for me
I’m leaving tonight
My heart is already out the door
It’s been far too long without you
Phone calls don’t seem enough anymore.
I remember when things were easier
When you were there always
Yet I never appreciated you
Like I do now distance is between us.
As I wait for my car
I think back to times long gone
Imagine your face, your eyes
You told me you loved me that day.
I smiled without saying a word
For I had loved you long before
When we were friends
Only friends, nothing more.
The day I left was dark
How I wished I could be free
As I looked at you one more time
And whispered ‘wait for me’.
It’s been a long road I’ve travelled
I never thought I’d get through
But things can only get better
Now I’m on my way back to you
My heart is already out the door
It’s been far too long without you
Phone calls don’t seem enough anymore.
I remember when things were easier

Hall of mirrors
"Predators in a Maze" from the album 'Say no to the World' by LostAlone had me writing, writing, writing for hours and eventually, at some point during the night, the title of the song took on a whole new meaning in my head and this is the end result. So thank you to Steven, Alan and Mark for the inspiration through music... Enjoy!
Frozen,
a painting in time I stand
here, stretched across the room,
these mirrors speak the truth.
Showing times long gone, forgotten,
Unwanted, unwelcome visions
before me.
Blood, slaughter, ungodly acts
Moving movies of my past. Tormented
Tortured, remnants of my soul
scream, please, take them away
Someone release me, save me
From myself, but am I the one to fear?
Am I doomed to this repetition?
Every way I turn I see it,
I don't deserve mercy or forgiveness.
I've done unspeakable things.
I should be beaten, burned, sentenced to die.
But I remain, the ruin of an assassin
Cursed, condemned, forced to stay
Given a conscience, eternal damnation
I walk alone, lost and forlorn.

Hold on
I sit here, gazing out my window
Watch the wind, it shakes the trees,
Try to suppress this memory
Of me crashing to my knees.
I stare in hopeful pretence
That you’re on your way back home,
But Inside I have this feeling
That you are really gone.
I fantasize that we’re together
Your loving arms around me tight,
Not here, alone and crying
Recalling that dreadful night.
Why, why couldn’t you listen?
Hear me calling you to stay,
Just thirty seconds longer
You’d still be here this day.
I fear these nights without you
I need to see and touch your face,
To have your lips on mine again
To sink in your warm embrace.
I don’t want to face this reality
I’m just not ready to say goodbye,
There is no life, no hope without you
I’m not even going to try.
Hold on babe I’m coming
I’m leaving this world with you,
Life means nothing, not anymore
I don’t think I’ll make it through.
Only one thing I need remains
So cold, this dagger in my hand,
My writing is on the table
This, the only thing to go as planned.
Close my eyes and raise my remedy
I no longer feel the pain,
I smile with tear drenched eyes
And I wait for my blood to drain.
Watch the wind, it shakes the trees,
Try to suppress this memory
Of me crashing to my knees.

Liberation is a dream
Tired
Beaten and broken down,
You get your way every time.
No matter how hard I try,
How much I fake a smile,
I can never please you
I'm never enough.
I wear my hair one sided
In hope no-one will see
That they’ll avert their eyes
To these scars, this blood,
You've left on me.
Still I cannot hide it
Cannot scrub it off
It wears me like an accessory
A scarf for all to see.
Little by little
Piece by piece
You tear from me
But still I cannot cry,
I have no tears
For what you've done to me,
This will never end
This nightmare by my side
Unless I take control
Find a strength,
Some courage to walk
More fear to stay
Instead it’s other way around.
‘Cos deep inside I know you
You'd never give up searching
Hunt me like an animal
So here I remain
Vulnerable and unprotected.
But you cannot take my dreams
My silent ambition to break away
They hide beneath the surface
Some place where I'm free
In another life perhaps
Where we have never met
And the broken one is you.
Beaten and broken down,
You get your way every time.
No matter how hard I try,
How much I fake a smile,
I can never please you
I'm never enough.

Secret Power
Switch it on, turn it up
Feel the juice consume me
Flash a smile, that’s it I’ve got you
No way for you to break free.
It’s not clear to anyone
Invisible to the naked eye,
It all comes naturally now
I won’t even have to try.
Give it all that I possess
Aim it all toward you,
Take it in, don’t try to fight
There’s nothing more you can do.
See that wall around you
Feel it crashing down,
As this passion takes over
And together we will drown.
Feel the juice consume me
Flash a smile, that’s it I’ve got you
No way for you to break free.
It’s not clear to anyone
Invisible to the naked eye,
It all comes naturally now

Visions
I've been talking in my sleep
Gone back to how I used to be
disturbing my nights, these visions
haunting my dreams, this confusion
Hopeless and troubled, peace can't find me.
Battling these demons, I’m fighting
They're dragging me under, I’m tired
Losing myself to this curse, defeated
Become a stranger in my mind, my body
No breath, no feeling, no existence
Left here, to burn, to linger
fading each day, I vanish
Gone back to how I used to be
disturbing my nights, these visions
haunting my dreams, this confusion
Hopeless and troubled, peace can't find me.
Battling these demons, I’m fighting
They're dragging me under, I’m tired
Losing myself to this curse, defeated

Something to believe in
Have faith, believe
No matter what life throws your way
Just rise, take a step
You can achieve your dreams
Open your eyes
See the little things that are there
Open your heart
Feel your way around you
Do what you wish
Make this life yours
Touch base, grow wings
Reach heights unknown
Know yourself
You can do it all and more
No matter what life throws your way
Just rise, take a step
You can achieve your dreams
Open your eyes
See the little things that are there
Open your heart
Feel your way around you

What can we do?
I’m trying so hard to make you see
This dysfunction between you and me
No longer can we continue this way
Something has to change
Someone has to fold
Make a choice babe, what’s it gonna be?
Perhaps we need a break
Maybe I should leave
I can’t stand this fighting
When all I want is to love you
Let’s take a stand together
Save ourselves from the pain
And do whatever it takes.
This dysfunction between you and me
No longer can we continue this way
Something has to change
Someone has to fold

I wish I stayed
Tears trickle down my face
As I walk away, head down.
Thoughts, fears and regrets
Rush through my mind.
Don’t know what to do with my hands
My feet follow an unknown path,
Who knows where I’ll end up this time.
I never wanted to leave
But you really left me no choice,
We were going nowhere
Just like I am now.
I’m afraid, but I look back
I see your face and I ache
It’s too late to take it away.
I hear you calling, pleading
‘Stay’ you say and I want to
But pride is my lover now,
It’s over, this is the end.
Still, my heart and soul
Are where you are,
I’m lost without them
I whisper to myself...
'I wish I stayed’.
As I walk away, head down.
Thoughts, fears and regrets
Rush through my mind.
Don’t know what to do with my hands
My feet follow an unknown path,
Who knows where I’ll end up this time.

Seasons change
So here we are,
Time has strained us both
We stand here,
Changed forever
With every season long gone.
Has enough time passed?
Are we able to forgive?
Pain shows in our eyes,
Do we turn and walk away?
Leave this all behind
Do we fight this?
Struggle through the torment,
Battle away the tears
Or do we let them linger?
Stain our faces for all to see.
What use is there in fighting?
We don't remember what it's for.
You say you’re strong enough
But is that enough?
Has too much changed?
Where do we go now?
Who will make that call?
For the first time we are unified
As uncertainty surrounds us both
Seasons change, did our love change too?
Time has strained us both
We stand here,
Changed forever
With every season long gone.
Has enough time passed?
Are we able to forgive?
Pain shows in our eyes,
Do we turn and walk away?
Leave this all behind

Dare to dream
Dare to dream,
To hope, to pray.
Dare to have faith
With each passing day.
Dare to speak,
To hear, to see.
Dare to feel,
To love and be free.
Dare to think,
To laugh, to cry.
Dare to wonder
To trust and to try.
Dare to wish,
To want, to achieve.
Dare to be mad,
To care, to believe.
Dare it all, take a chance and dream it to life
To hope, to pray.
Dare to have faith
With each passing day.
Dare to speak,
To hear, to see.
Dare to feel,
To love and be free.

To laugh, to cry.

To trust and to try.

At night...
Have you ever woken from one of those dreams that bleed into reality and just not been able to shake of the uneasy, creepy feeling you are left with? It happens to me all the time and just when I settle down enough to get tired again, my mind begins to race. It's then that I have to turn that light back on, and write until I can no longer think. This is the result of one such night...
What Dreams May Come
In the deep and dark
dead of night,
when all the world
has lost it's light...
What dreams may come?
Lock all the doors
into bed I creep,
close my eyes
drift off to sleep...
What dreams may come?
Limitless and vast
or riddled with fear,
before I go
it won't be clear
What dreams may come...
What Dreams May Come
In the deep and dark
dead of night,
when all the world
has lost it's light...
What dreams may come?
Lock all the doors
into bed I creep,
close my eyes
drift off to sleep...
What dreams may come?
Limitless and vast
or riddled with fear,
before I go
it won't be clear
What dreams may come...
Fangirls
I was inspired to write this one night when I was in Kyte. There were some very insane crazy people in there (what we call... fangirls) this came to mind.
What I actually find funny about this piece is that after I had written it, I found myself sympathising with the subject of the piece, who is so caught up in that world and has no way of controlling it (either because she doesn't know how or because she doesn't want to control it) People look down on her and people make fun of her... see for yourself
The Fangirl
There she sits impatiently
Biting her nails,
As she struggles to contain her desire.
She talks to people, tries to explain
But no-one understands,
Instead they mock her.
They don't realise, she is trapped,
Caught in an ever-expanding web
Its taken hold, but she will deny it.
At night she dreams
Obtaining the object she wants,
She craves it. It has to be hers.
She was once the innocent
But now she has turned
Unpredictable and dangerous, like a tidal wave.
They stay away, avoid the fallout
So she is alone, with only her dream
Can no-one help her? Is it too late?
